The Issues of Volunteer Retention-Free-Samples-Myassignmenthelp

Question: You are required to develop a well-referenced literature review which provides a background to your project. The literature review should examine the constructs, and discuss all relevant factors that have been identified by previous researchers which lead to the problem under investigation. Answer: Introduction The main purpose of this literature review is to highlight the issues of volunteer retention, and along with that the paper dwells through various aspects regarding the issues that can the volunteers face in the charitable organizations. Volunteer retention can be defined as a chief indicator in the management of the volunteers. Following some basic rules and regulations of this theory the management acquires the ability to retain the volunteers of the organizations. Background St John Ambulance is a nonprofit institution and the organization is self funded. The members of this organization dedicate their time to help the people who are in problems related to health issues. St Johns initial First Aid Training Center was established in Australia in the late 19th century and by 1883, the organization emerged as an organization having several wings and branches to serve more people who are suffering from health related issues. Relation with research problem The aim of this paper is to highlight the fact that how ST John QLD can retain their volunteers to ensure they provide the best medical assistance to the people who need it and especially to the medically disadvantaged persons along with homeless and the elderly people of the country. Another major purpose of this paper is to attract the attention of the practitioners in the partner organizations of St John Qld in order to make them feel that their efforts as volunteers in those organizations are priceless and the organizations are blessed to have a volunteering workforce like that. Thus this paper projects the importance of these volunteer efforts and also highlights that currently for institutions like St John QLD, they are assets, and in any ways their services should be sustained. Adoption of the practices related to Volunteer management It is seen that effective supervision and communication with the volunteers has been adopted chiefly among the majority of the volunteer organizations. A shocking fact for this generation is that only 35% of the charities have actually adopted publicly recognizing the works of their volunteers (Lasker 2016). The target audience of this paper is the youth of Australia who are interested to work for the society and especially those persons who have the basic idea about the medical science or physiology. The management of the organization highlights the fact that they want to attract the other practitioners in the same field and preferably practitioners in the partner organizations. The volunteers are the nucleus of the charitable organizations and years after years they invest their time for the betterment of the society. They provide help to the individuals selflessly whom they do not even know. Volunteers who invest time for St John Ambulance QLD, they raise funds from the First Aid training centers and by selling the products related to healthcare and invest that money for the benefit of the individuals in need of medical assistance (Kamimura and Christensen 2014). Types of volunteers medical institutions require Currently there are some specific requirements for volunteers and those are mentioned in this section. They need community care volunteers, who will provide assistance to the persons who are homeless, retired persons and who are disadvantaged. Apart from that the organization needs apart from that they need volunteer services from the individuals who have a medical degree (Kamimura and Christensen 2014). These individuals generally serve in the local hospitals, clinics and provide help to the individuals who are suffering from critical diseases. Lastly, the organization recruits individuals who serve in the first aid centers and bringing in patients to the clinics. For this they require only individuals who are over 16 years old and no specific academic qualification is needed for this. The organization provides a months training to the individuals before deploying them to serve the people in need for the best results. Volunteer recruitment The organization should be able to identify the volunteers and encourage them to participate at an organization level in order to serve the people in problematic situations (Lasker 2016). In order to recruit effectively for voluntary purposes, there are certain ways and those are mentioned in this section; The members of the organization should ask enthusiasts to help in small tasks like bringing in patients to the institution or giving them the first aid as a first step. The management of the organization should proactively publish the roles of the volunteers who are available to work. The management must hold an annual day meeting in order to clarify things, discuss about the nearing events and apart from that they discuss about their future plans and distribute the duties of the volunteers. Managing the committee The volunteers must participate in the meetings where they are required to take any decisions as a group regarding any events or the process they will go through for a particular task (Withers, Browner and Aghaloo 2013). It would be more beneficial if a person chairs the meeting for the meeting to be more effectual. These types of meetings enhances the awareness of how the volunteers are feeling and the outcomes of these meetings can help to distinguish that who are doing excessive works and who are not getting adequate work to serve the people. These types of meetings actually enhance the motivation level of the volunteers and increase the productivity of them. The management should put extra effort in recruiting new volunteers and they can make the induction training process more effective so that the new entrants can learn how important they are for the organization and the severity of the services that they are providing to the individuals who are medically disadvantaged (Mwapasa et al. 2017). Planning the events In some charitable organizations there is one person who chairs all the meetings and takes decisions regarding the forthcoming events and regarding the action plans of the volunteers. In some cases in the meetings, all the volunteers and the members of the organizations participate and take decisions regarding these matters (Kamimura and Christensen 2014). In this way the effectiveness of the meeting gets increased. In these meetings the members can anticipate the problems that may arise in the future or the opportunities and the strengths of the organization (Lasker 2016). There should be a proper planning because without a proper roadmap, the charitable organizations like St John QLD would not be able to provide more assistance to the people who are in need. The management of the organization might take the examples of World Bank and following their footsteps; they can arrange some initiatives and arrange some events in order to attract more volunteers to join their organization (W orld Bank, 2017). Retention of the volunteers Within an organization, there are numerous members who get engaged in charitable works and they invest a lot of time for charitable purpose. In order to keep them motivated and loyal towards the organization the management needs to take some steps. For an example, in an organization like St John QLD there are many volunteers and out of them the majority are very competent and they are asset for the organization (Iddins et al. 2015). The management of the organization must take initiatives so that the competent volunteers are retained successfully. The management has to use some techniques like reward and recognition (Decroo et al. 2013). As the members are volunteering their efforts and investing a lot of time, thus the only thing that a volunteer can expect is the recognition of his or her hard work. At time the volunteers might get desolated and lose their motivation, but when these sensitive situation arise, the management has to be specifically cautioned to deal with that situati on. In those situations the management has to deal with the situation very sensitively and try to retain those volunteers who are competent enough. This has to be done with taking extra care because in this way the society gets benefitted (Chamberlin et al. 2015). There should be a set of rules and regulations within the organization regarding these issues in order to maintain a healthy work environment within the organization. Apart from these, the management has to be extra cautioned regarding the issues where the volunteers may feel overloaded with work and at times they can think that they are not getting adequate work to do. When these situations arise, a potential disruption among them can take place and the management should work on it so that these types of situations never arise and make things problematic (Bennington 2017). Thus the main issue that these organizations face is retention of the volunteers and they should introduce new rules and regulations so that the volunt eers feel that they are important for the organization as well for the society. Conclusion Thus to conclude, it can be said that retaining the volunteers in charitable organizations are always problematic and especially for the St John QLD. This is because, this particular organization works for the individuals who are in problems related to medical issues and provide medical assistance to them. It is a matter of fact that if volunteers of these organizations are reluctant to work for them, then the management will face huge issues regarding the operations of the organization. In the particular field where this organization operates is highly technical and the work is quite complex. Thus it will be impossible to replace any competent volunteer within a short period of time. Thus the organizations need to be always aware o this issue and act accordingly so that their works to provide assistance to the people who are medically disadvantaged gets proper assistance. Yellowcake Essay Example

Yellowcake Essay Example Yellowcake Essay Yellowcake Essay Book Review Yellowcake I really enjoyed this book miellowcake by Ann Cummins. The beginning was hard to get involved with but past the first few chapters I found myself wanting to know what happens next. She really described the characters well. My favorite was Sam because he reminded me of my own dad. He was a free spirited man with his own agenda. This book takes place here in the four corner region and I was born and raised here. Which had the effect of feeling involved with the characters and their families. Ann Cummins had Navajo culture introduced through the Atcitty family. Reading the book, Cummins had great descriptions of the surroundings. I spent a lot of time this past summer at Morgan lake, and I was excited to read the part when Becky and her friend where there too. I again felt as if I was there with them in the story. I felt the purpose of her story was to tell the daily struggle of life these two families had to ncounter. For example, Ryland had a struggle with his sickness and how I affected him and his family. The constant worry if he was able to be a part of his owns daughters wedding or not. Beckys struggle with the passing of her dad, Woody. She knew it was coming for a long time, but she couldnt imagine a life without him. I believe she did a wonderful Job in the details of her story, but upset with the ending. It kind of left me hanging in what was going to happen next.

Interpersonal Film Paper - Essay Example Lorelai’s parents, who are seen to be quiet different than her never let her forget how much trouble she was in her early years. She therefore lives independently with Rory, however eventually she turns for their financial help in order to give Rory the best education. The show revolves around the communication and the lack thereof between the characters which leads them to a number of situations, good and bad. It depicts how Lorelai while still leaving room for her daughter to make mistakes, continues to make so many of her own. The series runs for 7 seasons all of which portray to the audience the drama of these dynamic women at their prime as well as their downfalls. It shows that how no matter what happens in their lives, the basic fact that they will always have each other, and this is what Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are all about. One of the major propellant of the ‘Gilmore girls story, as far as communication is concerned is closely associated to the aspect of American class. Firstly it is important to mention that American culture being categorized as low-context where the communication style has most of the information incorporated into a message with the need for detailed background information for social interaction (Hall, 1973). Lorelai, despite being born and raised in a wealthy atmosphere is seen to have left her home with her child at the age of seventeen. She moved to Stars Hollow and started a new life working her way up from a job as a maid at the Independence Inn to being a manager there years later. Being privileged instead of making her feel comfortable and safe made her feel repressed and controlled. The defining reason for this disparity and gap between her and her parents was due to poor communication which leads to widening the gap between them, one which already was undeniable due to very different

Perspectives on Case Manager Project Research Paper

Perspectives on Case Manager Project - Research Paper Example In part one, a team of two researchers carried out an eighteen in-person interviews (Fattoruso & Quinn, 2007). Notably, when one of two staff researchers was not available, either the interview proceeding was recorded or the project attorney carried on as, a substitute to maintain consistency of the interviews. More significantly, all stakeholders participated voluntarily and were subjected to the same set of questions. The open-ended questions interview took place at a location chosen by the interviewee within an average time of one hour. More so, these interviews occurred between October 2010 and December 2010 after the project had been in the market for six months. The full set of interview questions are located in â€Å"Appendix A† of this report while below is a description of the total number of interviewees and job categories: Bench Officers: One full-time dependency court Judge and one dependency Judge working part-time in criminal cases. Attorneys: Five dependency att orneys—three individual interviews, group of two attorneys. Social Worker’ from the Human Services Agency, Children’s Services Division: Three emergency response social workers, one Division Chief, and two treatment unit supervisors overseeing programs of group homes, residential treatment, placements, adoptions, and commencement planning. County Unified School District Staff: One superintendent secretary, and one child welfare linked with custody of student records. Local Community Based Organization: A focus group interview consisting of one Executive Director, one Associate Executive Director of Programs, and one Clinical Program Manager. This agency provides a wide range of services designed to foster healthy families. The researchers’ objectives of the stakeholder interview were to gain an understanding and discuss the project in terms of—communication, goals, teamwork and collaboration, resources, and impacts of the case manager position Comm unication Researchers received a wide variation of responses based on how often the stakeholder’s role communicated with the case manager. More significantly, each stakeholder had a different role and thus, communication with the case manager took place at different times and for different reasons. Only eleven percent of interviewees were able to give researchers a frequency of how often the communication occurs. Another eleven percent stated that communications occurred by either phone or email. In addition, researchers received key information about caseload type(s) and reasons as, to why communication among stakeholders is widespread or not. Notably, one interviewee stated that, â€Å"half of my cases have contact with the case manager†¦my caseload is up to 100.† Along the same lines, seventeen percent of interviewees mentioned that because the caseload for the target population is so low, they hardly ever cross paths (Fattoruso & Quinn, 2007). Conversely, twen ty-two percent of interviewees noted that they have never worked with the case manager. Moreover, the variation in responses depended on various settings. Seventeen percent of interviewees attested to the fact that their communications were in settings such as, formal meetings and dependency hearings. More significantly, twenty-two percent of interviewees provided examples of the educational issues comprising of requests for school credits, graduation options, school changes, and continuing education as, they worked with the c

Research a medical topic of interest to you using professional medical Paper

A medical topic of interest to you using professional medical journals such as Jama, nursing or dental or physical, occupational, or speech journals - Research Paper Example This leaves prevention as the only feasible alternative to control the virus. The prevention is done through immunization of attenuated forms of the virus to induce the body to develop natural immunity against the virus (John, 2002). Cases of poliomyelitis have declined in the recent decades but it is still too early to celebrate. The elimination of the second of the three-poliovirus serotypes; type 2 was eliminated in 1999.This marked a milestone achievement and evidence that the global resolve to eliminate paralytic poliomyelitis is attainable. Improvements in immunization and continuous surveillance are ideal in the completion of eradication of polio (Samwel et al, 1991). The feat of polio eradication is highly supported by polio programs, innovations such as global positioning system, mapping, and strategies of immunization at transit points. It is strategic to declare polio as a global health emergency to arouse concerted efforts by countries globally to eliminate the disease. The shift from the use of oral polio vaccine (OPV) to inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) is timely and appropriate. This is because of the magnitude of reduced effectiveness of OPV in locations with high burden of enteric pathogens and diarrheal disease. This challenge can be more pronounced in some areas leaving children who have received several doses still vulnerable to polio attack. The development of viral genetic sequencing technology reveals that OPV viruses are capable of regaining fitness and neurovirulence when continuously transmitted from one person to the other. Based on the information of genetic attenuation, it is imperative that true elimination of polio means zero transmission of poliovirus .It is notable that vaccine viruses apart from being genetically prone to reversal to neurovirulence, are also epidemiologically prone to transmission to unvaccinated children thus causing polio outbreaks. To reduce the cost of the administration of IPV, it is

Postion Paper: Who Was More Carzed Stalin Or Hitler -- essays research

Who was more Crazed: Stalin or Hitler? The obviously more crazed man was Joseph Stalin. Stalin was more crazed because over his time and rule, he killed millions upon millions more people that Hitler. Joseph Stalin is also more crazed because he did not kill other people he was racist against, but simply because he wanted to kill. The book Hitler and Stalin: Parallel Lives, states " Adolf Hitler's actions can not even be compared to the monstrous actions of Joseph Stalin". The author of this book points out another interesting fact. Alan Bullock states "If Hitler would have ruled in power as long as Stalin, there may have been somewhat of a kill ratio comparison between the two". Hitler's first and foremost task as dictator of Germany was cleanse Germany of all other inferior races. This was a very bad move on Hitler's part, and that he should have never gone through with it. The author rightfully states that Hitler had many physiological problems, and hated the Jews for one reason, and you will find that in the following quote by an anonymous author "When I now broached the question of what the source of his so strongly felt hatred for the Jews was, and why he wanted to destroy this so undeniably intelligent race - a race to which the Germans and all other Aryan's, if not the entire world, owed an incalculable debt in virtually all field of art and knowledge, research and economics†. Unlike Stalin, Hitler actually helped the economy. Hitler did good with the Volkswagen. Hitler was a power hungry man. Hitler was a more peaceful man compared to Stalin. He didn’t kill his own, family, and until the end, kept the economy strong. What Hitler wanted to accomplish was virtually impossible. His goal of making an entire race extinct was obsolete, but he did not seem to think that. Hitler tried to carry out his goal, and in a way succeeded in the almost impossible. In a quote from an article it states that â€Å"Hitler overcame the near impossible, through propaganda†. This quote also brings up another point, and that was that Hitler was an expert at propaganda. Hitler and Stalin both used propaganda to its fullest, through billboards, and on radio broadcasts. The obvious better of the two was Hitler. &... ...worthiness adds up to make him the more terrible. The main reason Stalin was chosen was because of the outrageous amount of killings. Hitler's killings were minor compared to the twenty to sixty two million people Stalin killed in his lifetime. Stalin cannot be compared to any other political figure. Joseph Stalin was a one of a kind, and it was the one of a kind you did not want. No other political figure in history has killed this many people in his political reign, or for that matter, used fear to win his elections. As ruler of the Red Army, he did not feed his soldiers, and sis not take care of them. People in Stalin's country had to fend for themselves. If asked the question, who was worse: Stalin or Hitler to any average person of average knowledge, one would assume Hitler was worse. This situation was common because Joseph Stalin burned most of the history on his life, and his plans. In the beginning, to me, Hitler was worse too, but after reading what I have read about this monstrous man, I know for a fact Stalin was worse, and he will always be in my eyes. I hope my paper has well informed the reader of who was obviously the more crazed man.

Custom Coffee Essay

I believe Custom Coffee & Chocolate mission is to establish a small cafà © where they and their customers could indulge their love of good coffee and fine chocolates. Bonnie and Stacy, recent college roommates, wanted a location that got a lot of foot traffic from shoppers and businesses. Their desire was to target a place near the university because they knew and understood those customers well. The purpose of the cafe’ is to serve unique coffee blends and specialty chocolates, and the business plan included purchasing only fair trade coffee and chocolates made by a few local suppliers. SWOT ANALYSIS: Strengths – Having a good location where public transportation is not a issue. The owners will be selling products that are considered to be good quality, near top of the line. Customers have the options of eating in or taking out their purchases. Weakness – The shop is pretty small, and can only hold a certain amount of customers, and they will need more funding to expand. Opportunity – The opportunities are unlimited, expanding the menu to include baked chocolates, desserts, tea and other beverages. If the businesses continue to grow, Bonnie & Stacy may be able to start a small franchise. Threats – I don’t detect any threats, unless a similar business moves in the same location. Bonnie & Stacy are doing all the right things to make their cafe’ affordable, and customer friendly. It is a nice place for friends and family to meet and chat while having a cup of coffee or reading the newspaper. Comfort is always important to me, so I like the idea of them having comfortable seating. Putting up a website and blog page might be helpful to customers and potential customers, for information and feedback. I don’t believe that delivery would be a good thing right now, maybe in another six months. Great job Bonnie & Stacy, you knew what you wanted and went for it. I wish you much success.

The Definition of Success and How to Be Successful

â€Å"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome†, Booker T. Washington, spoke that success is not measured in the riches and status of a person, but by the hard work and commitment they made to reach their goals while conquering challenges along the way. Washington states a brilliant point, although there are others who would disagree, instead viewing materials as a measurement of success. Since when did success start being acquisitively measured?
